He was born and raised on a farm outside of Estevan, and continues this adventure alongside his wife Sherrill and their three daughters, Megan, Marci and Gracie. In addition to the family farming operation, Jason has also had a 30-year global career in the Auction Industry from which he retired in 2019. He is also a founding partner in Weyburn Industrial Transload, established in 2020. Jason has been involved in various other businesses as both an active and silent partner. Serving as the Reeve since 2021, Jason is looking forward to working with council as they continue to move the R.M. of Estevan forward in a positive and progressive motion. He will support local business, ag producers and ratepayers by ensuring the RM has keeps a balanced budget, while striving to generate future businesses. For almost the past 20 years, she has worked for SaskPower at Shand and Boundary Dam Power plants, in operations and management, closing out her career as acting director at BDPS. Three of their four adult children live and work in the Estevan area, some with their partners. They are often at the farm, helping out with the herd, hunting, hiking in the hills with the dogs, barbecuing, playing cards or raiding the garden. Suzanne’s interest includes all things science, art, nature, gardening, beekeeping, farming, and energy-related growth and development. Suzanne looks forward to serving the RM, ensuring that Estevan and area remains a great place to live, work and raise a family for years to come. He and his wife Tara along with their three sons decided to put down their own roots in the R.M. of Estevan by building their farm from the ground up. Kevin has been a Powerline Technician with SaskPower for the past 34 years and in his spare time he volunteers coaching High School badminton. As Councillor of Division 3 for the past year, Kevin strives to continue serving the ratepayers and residents in his area as well as the R.M. of Estevan as a whole in the coming years. James attended the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree (with distinction) in Political Studies in 1994 and later his Bachelor of Laws Degree in 1996. Since graduation, he has practiced law in Estevan. Away from the office, James has been a member of many local boards and committees, including: Past President of the United Way Estevan, public address announcer and volunteer coach for Estevan Minor Football, actor in the Lampman Community Theatre, as well as being active in the federal political scene. His first term as Councillor for Division 4 has been an extremely busy and rewarding time for him. During his down time, he enjoys spending time with his 4 children, playing farmer on his acreage, camping, travelling, reading and enjoying a fine cigar. Her entire career was in the education sector from which she retired after 30 years of service. She has and continued to volunteer in various groups within the community and played an active role in the 4H program. Ramona was elected to council in 2020 and she aspires to ensure all residents of Division 5 have a voice at council. He rented a half section of land and began farming at the age of 14. After graduating high school, he found employment with Carson Welding & Maintenance, thus beginning his 30 year career in Oil & Gas Construction, where he was the South East Saskatchewan Area Manager of 5 locations. Prior to this, he had a short on and off career with Luscar at the Bienfait and Boundary mines. Volunteer work came in the form of Assistant Coaching for his daughter’s softball team, spanning over 10 years. As Councillor for Division 6, he will do his best to listen to and address the concerns of his ratepayers, as well as assisting the rest of council in creating a sustainable future for the whole R.M. Steve looks forward to creating new economic development opportunities that will support current commercial businesses, as well as working with council to balance current and future budgets. He also strives to create a team environment with staff, council and ratepayers.   • Creighton Lodge | R.M. of Estevan

    Since July 1st, 2010 Creighton Lodge has been owned and operated by five Rural Municipalities; The R.M. of Estevan No.5, the R.M. of Benson No.35, the R.M. of Cymri No.36, the R.M. of Coalfields No.4 and the R.M. of Cambria No.6. The City of Estevan also sits on the management board. Creighton Lodge Since July 1st, 2010 Creighton Lodge has been owned and operated by five Rural Municipalities; The R.M. of Estevan No.5, the R.M. of Benson No.35, the R.M. of Cymri No.36, the R.M. of Coalfields No.4 and the R.M. of Cambria No.6. The City of Estevan also sits on the management board. Creighton Lodge is an Assisted Living Facility that provides safe, affordable housing for the seniors of Southeast Saskatchewan. With the assistance of the R.M.’s, Creighton Lodge enriches the lives of the seniors who independently reside at the lodge by providing a socially invigorating environment that nurtures each resident spiritually, nutritionally while ensuring they live in a secure home. Creighton Lodge boasts a caring staff of 14 which includes a full-time maintenance personnel and a manager. The lodge has 47 suites and currently has 50 residents. There are five types of suites; 18 suites are Enriched Living suites that include all of the meals, 22 suites are one-bedroom suites with full kitchens, 5 suites are one bedroom with a den and 2 suites are bachelor suites. We have a dining room that caters to our residents’ nutritional needs and we serve an average of 80 meals each day. Creighton Lodge has a Trust Committee that consists of a representative from each RM, the City of Estevan and a member at large. The trust committee has formed a relationship with the United Way Estevan and is a member agency. United Way Estevan has assisted Creighton Lodge Trust to complete many projects over the years and to also bring special events to enrich the lives of the senior citizens in Southeast Saskatchewan. The Day of Caring that United Way Estevan hosts each year is also an important part of the exterior maintenance and gardening program at the Lodge. Creighton Lodge relies on volunteers within our activity and musical programs. United Way Estevan ensures that we have the supplies needed to carry out these programs and to recognize our valued volunteers. Voting Information Voting Information Voting Advance polls and election day polls are held at the R.M. of Estevan No.5 Municipal Office at 1- 322 4th Street in Estevan, SK. All polling information is announced on the R.M. website, Facebook, and at the R.M. office. Who Can Vote? Please reference section 36 of The Local Government Election Act, 2015 when determining voter eligibility. For The Local Government Election Act, 2015 , click here . An eligible voter is entitled to vote only once for Reeve and only once for Division Councillor in the division he or she is entitled to vote in, notwithstanding they may meet more than one of the qualifications. Note: It is the voter’s responsibility to know which division they are eligible to vote in. You can find the information about the division you live in by looking at the bottom right corner of your R.M. property tax notice, or you can always call the office at 306-634-2222. Keep in mind, election officials can not provide that information during an election. A person is qualified to be registered as a voter in a rural municipality if he or she on the day of the election: is 18 years old; is a Canadian citizen; has not already voted in the election; and immediately preceding the day of the election meets at least one of the following criteria: Section 36 (1)(e) of The Local Government Elections Act, 2015 in the case of a rural municipality: (i) has resided in the rural municipality, or land now in the rural municipality, for at least three consecutive months immediately preceding the day of the election; (i.1) is the registered owner of property in the rural municipality, or property now situated in the municipality (ii) is the assessed person with respect to property in the rural municipality, or property now situated in the municipality, pursuant to section 207 of The Municipalities Act ; (iii) is the occupant of a trailer or mobile home in the municipality, or land now situated in the municipality, that is the object of a permit required pursuant to section 306 of The Municipalities Act ; (iv) is the spouse of a person mentioned in sub-clause (ii) or (iii); or (v) is the chief executive officer of a duly incorporated co-operative, corporation or religious association that is assessed on the last revised assessment roll with respect to property in the rural municipality that is not exempt from taxation. Valid Identification to Use At Polls To vote you must provide valid identification with your photo, name and address. Bringing government-issued photo ID is your best option. Other options include: A valid Saskatchewan Driver's License A valid Saskatchewan ID card issued by SGI or any motor license issuer Any other valid government-issued photo ID issued by a Canadian government whether federal, provincial or municipal, or an agency of that government, so long as it includes your name and address Note: A Canadian passport is not an acceptable form of photo identification because it does not contain your address. However, a Canadian passport can be used as identification if paired with another document that has your name and address on it. Non-Photo ID Options If you don't have photo identification and are unable to obtain photo-ID before election day, you can present two other pieces of information, as long as both contain your name and at least one contains your address. Options include: Valid ID cards or certificates issued by the Canadian or Saskatchewan government, a Saskatchewan municipality or school division, a Saskatchewan Indian band, the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan or an agency of one of these entities Personal correspondence, benefit/contribution statements and tax/assessment notices issued by any of the above entities Bank/credit union cards, credit cards and statements Utility bills and statements issued within six months of the date of the election Personalized attestation of residence, letter of stay or admission form issued by a seniors or student residence, long term care or shelter facility Vouching A person without acceptable ID but who is accompanied by another voter who has acceptable ID and is entitled to vote at the same polling place can be vouched for by that individual using the form available at the polling station from an election official. A voter with acceptable ID may only vouch for one other person, except for immediate family members living at the same address as the voucher. A person who has been vouched for cannot vouch for another voter. Election officials, candidates and candidate's agents are prohibited from vouching.
